During the Sept. 24, 2024, Athens Main Street Promotions Committee meeting, Athens Main Street Board President Shane Black presented the Promotions Committee with the following resolution.

WHEREAS, the Promotions Committee of Athens Main Street is composed of Michelle Williamson (Chair), Blake Williams, Amy Higginbotham, Letisha Brinkley, Devin Simmons, Tiffany Pack, Jordan Niedzwiecki, Will Ogles, and Casey Mays (with Tere Richardson, as Executive Director);

WHEREAS, the Promotions Committee oversees an essential component of the Main Street “Four Point Approach”;

WHEREAS, the committee carries on the important work of creating a positive image of downtown Athens to rekindle community pride and improve consumer and investor confidence in that downtown;

WHEREAS, the recent work of the Promotions Committee has been nothing short of exemplary;

WHEREAS, the Promotions Committee excels at planning, organizing and promoting special events with creative ideas;

WHEREAS, the committee excels at coordinating groups to participate, attend, or partner for promotional activities and making it fun;

WHEREAS, the committee excels at developing and promoting Athens Main Street’s image, establishing Athens Main Street as “the place” to go for all the great things to do downtown;

WHEREAS, the committee excels at attracting shoppers and visitors to downtown:

WHEREAS, the committee excels at partnering with other groups involved in promoting downtown Athens; and

WHEREAS, the committee excels at its social media work, having expanded Athens Main Street’s reach from 2,000 followers in 2019 to 20,000 followers in 2024.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF ATHENS MAIN STREET on August 16, 2024, as follows:

1. The recent work of the Promotions Committee has taken Athens Main Street to another level, elevating the brand and creating substantial value to the organization.

2. The Board wants the Promotions Committee to know that it recognizes the driving spirit of the volunteer members of this committee, and considers it to be one of the best, hardest-working, and most innovative committees in the history of this organization.

3. The Board does hereby commend and congratulate the Promotions Committee for their incredible work in downtown Athens, Alabama.
