On September 20, Athens Mayor Ronnie Marks proclaimed the week of September 25 – September 30 as Greek Week in Athens, Alabama. Read the proclamation below:

The 2017 Athens Grease Festival is September 30, 2017 in downtown Athens from 11 AM – 7 PM. There will be Music, Art, Fried Food, and so much more!

Tickets are $5 for adults – $4 for ages 3 to 12 – Free for 2 and younger – Wear a toga and get $1 off admission

Musical performances include The Steel City Jug Slammers, Athens High School Marching Eagles Band, East Limestone Marching Indians Band, Jimmy Henderson Duo, Matt Prater, Of Kith and Kin, Local Honey, and Tom McClung.

You can register at the festival for the following events: Frozen Turkey Toss and Dub’s Burger Eating Contest

Free events include a Kids zone with art and other activities and a Street theater.
