ATHENS ALA. – The Athens Saturday Market committee, which is under the direction of Athens Main Street, will hold the inaugural Fall market on October 14, 2017 at the Green Street Pavilion which is located at 409 W. Green Street Athens Ala. 35611. Market Manager Kat Greene states “All ages will find something to enjoy at the Saturday Fall Market, whether it be the produce and crafts, live music, kids’ activities, or just the opportunity to engage with the community. We hope everyone will join us for this festive event.” The market will take place from 8 AM until 12 PM. (Noon)
The Old Friends Band will be the live music during this market. The band includes Larry Cole, Peggy Cole, and Jerry Fishback. They will play folk and country tunes alongside some original tracks.
Some people might wonder why they should come out to the market. Market Manager Kat Greene explains “In a time when you can order anything online with the click of a mouse, it is nice to slow down and make shopping an enjoyable experience. You can literally shake the hand that picked your produce or created your crafts.”
Athens Saturday Market chair and Athens Main Street Board President Laurie Glenn stated “This special Saturday Market is designed to celebrate fall vegetables, decorations and activities. The Market Committee is thrilled to have one more opportunity to bring our growers, vendors, and customers together.”
Athens Main Street Executive Director Melanie Newton stated, “Athens Main Street is excited to host the inaugural Fall Market.” She continues by saying “This is a chance for the community to come together and to celebrate the Fall Harvest.”
