ATHENS, Ala. – Patrons are invited to shop, dine, sip on cider, and explore downtown Athens for the annual Sippin’ Cider Festival on Saturday.
Rain or shine, patrons can visit Athens Alehouse & Cellar, Bennett’s Clothing, Boutique Bliss, Broken Brush, CEI Bookstore, Crawford’s Gifts, Driftwood Dragonfly, EXIT Realty Downhome, Garnet’s Antiques, Hendricks-Patton, High Cotton Arts, Hyatt & Sims, Liz & Co., Pimentos, Snapdragon Kids, Southern Belles & Beaus, Square Clock Coffee, Sweetest Thing Tea Room, Terranova’s, Toodlebugs, Trinity’s, U.G. White Mercantile, Village Pizza and Wildwood Deli to sample a cider from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on December 11, 2021.
Patrons will vote, using a QR code, for their favorite and the merchant who has the most votes at the end of the night will receive the coveted Cider Cup and bragging rights for the year.
Malones and Friends will perform on the steps of the Limestone County Courthouse from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Athens Rotary Club is sponsoring s’mores for children and Athens Main Street is providing free carriage rides from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Athens Main Street Executive Director Tere Richardson says events like these are important to help support local businesses during the holiday season.
“I think people are very ready to get out and socialize, and they are very aware of the fact that supporting local business is so important for the local economy,” said Richardson. “One of Athens Main Street’s major objectives is attracting people into downtown so they can experience all we have to offer and what we have to offer is great shopping, dining, and entertainment for the entire family.”
