As a native of Limestone County, Tere Richardson developed a love for the Athens community passed down from many generations of her family, who lived, worked and raised families in the area. After she obtained her degrees from Athens State University and Troy University she spent 10 years in the corporate world in project management. She consulted to a number of global clients such as Honeywell, Cincinnati Milacron, Lenscrafters, Maytag, the Getty Foundation and others. For the past 25 years, she has worked in the not-for-profit sector, serving on boards, planning events, coordinating volunteers. Organizations she served have included the Cincinnati Historical Society, the St. Louis Zoo and numerous schools. Locally, she is the Board President of Limestone County Churches Involved, Inc. and serves as Athens Rotary Service Projects Chair. Tere also sits on the Athens State University Visitors Board and Finance Committee. Tere and her husband, Gary Van Wagnen have two sons, one at the University of Alabama and one at Auburn University.
