Downtown Improvements Impact Fridays After Five and Summer on the Square in August

ATHENS, Ala. –  We are thrilled to have the final phase of our beautiful downtown streetscape project beginning. On August 4, the City of Athens will begin milling, grading and paving streets around the Square. This final phase will improve the street surface, provide more handicaps parking spots and clarify the lane positioning.

However, this will impact our final Fridays After Five planned for August 9. Given the potential for uneven surfaces and construction hazards, we are canceling our Food Trucks and Kids Zone Activities. A number of our merchants and restaurants will still be open late with tons of great specials!

Restaurants:

  • Lucia’s: $4.99 Margaritas
  • Terranova’s: Wine spritzers
  • Village Pizza: Pizza, salads, subs, and wings
  • Wildwood Deli: Fridays Suppers

Merchants:

  • Boneyard Antiques: Unique items and antiques
  • Boutique Bliss: Women’s clothing boutique
  • Crawford’s Gifts: Gifts, clothing and home décor
  • Epiphany’s: Women’s clothing boutique
  • Garnet’s: 20% end tables, vintage trucks, and suitcases
  • High Cotton: Art After Hours, a performance by Justice Storm and a food truck
  • Pimento’s: Gifts and home décor
  • Snapdragon’s: Kid’s clothing store
  • Tammy’s Fine Jewelry: Earrings, necklaces, and rings
  • Toodlebug’s: Baby and children’s boutique
  • Trinity’s: Gifts and home décor
  • UG White: Buy 1 lb. of chocolate and get ¼ lb. free

Summer on the Square, planned for August 11th, will be impacted as well. However, Wildwood Deli will be open for their gourmet brunch and drink selections, along with Terranova, Village Pizza and Lucia’s. Crawford’s Gifts and Pimento’s will be open for shopping from Noon – 4:00 p.m.
