Athens Main Street, a 501(c)(3) non profit organization in Athens, Alabama, is soliciting proposals from qualified artists or team of artists to provide design and implementation services for an exterior mural in Merchants Alley located at 107 North Jefferson Street. The mural would be painted on the building and would be the focal point as you enter the alley from Jefferson Street. The alley will serve as a corridor connecting public parking located on the west side of the block to the downtown district.

“We are planning to create a series of works of art that will engage in a multitude of ways exploring our roots in art and music,” said Athens Main Street Executive Director Tere Richardson. “This large mural at the entrance will be a focal point, attracting the eye of passers by both pedestrian and motorists and inviting them into the space.”
